Formed in 2017, The Boardwalk is the side project of James Gemini, writing music intended only for studio recording. Working exclusively behind the scenes, as opposed to considering feedback from the audiences of live performances, provided The Boardwalk with the opportunity to take risks from which they would have normally abstained; their idea was to write the music they wanted, not what they thought people wanted to hear. Intense post-production and consultation provided by producer Justin Scott were processes largely unexplored by The Boardwalk, though these contributions and insight helped to maximize the style displayed in their music.
